You can now burn captions onto the video and share the video quickly using the Subera app.

Let's explore this feature.

Click on the editor download button on the app bar and select the export video option.

In the export editor, you will be able to change the caption position on the video.

Just hold and drag the subtitles on the screen up and down to adjust the position.

Pick a font you like from the custom font library. Option to upload your own font coming very soon. You can also adjust the font size.

Pick a colour from the colour picker. Custom colour picker options will be available soon.

Set the background colour & adjust transparency.

Tap on the preview button to check the output configuration quickly. It creates a 5-second clip so you can verify the output before burning the actual captions.  

Once done with the configuration, Just hit the burn button.

Burning captions onto the video is a slow process and may take some time.

For some languages, letters may not display correctly. Please raise a support request with your caption language. We will verify and add the fonts to our library.

What are captions?

Captions are a text version of the speech and non-speech audio information needed to understand the video content. They are in the same language spoken in the video. They are time-synchronized with the audio.

What are subtitles?

Subtitles are also like captions, but here spoken part in the video is translated to other languages. Subtitles are created to make your video content available for a larger audience who do not understand/speak the language of the video.

In some parts of the world, subtitles & captions use interchangeably. That is causing some confusion among Subera users. They don't select the correct language while requesting the captions.

How to create subtitles?

It's a TWO (2) step process.

First, Create captions. Select the language spoken in the video, not the language you want your subtitles.

Once captions are generated, add the language you want your video's subtitles. Use the Auto Translate feature.

How to add subtitles language?

Tap on the app bar current language name. Search the language in which you want your subtitles.

How to AutoTranslate?

Tap the translate icon on the app bar. Langauge information is preloaded.

Tap the Translate Now button.

Captions generated using AI/ML transcribing engines are not 100% accurate.

So before translating captions to other languages, you need to proofread & correct minor mistakes.

Some common errors you may find in auto-generated captions.

1. Completely wrong captions for some segments
2. Not fully transcribed, some words missing in some segments
3. Incomplete sentences.
4. Time segments either are too big or too small.
5. Blank time segments

Install Gboard and quickly type captions using voice typing. Download and install from play store https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.inputmethod.latin .

Subera editor has lots of features that will help you to edit your captions easily.

Let's explore those features one by one.

Switch between Editor Mode & Preview Mode

Tap on the player on the editor to switch between the two modes.

Add new time segments

Tap on the first + button to add a segment at the end of the timeline. And second + button to add a segment between two other slots. Please ensure 1 seconds gap between those two segments.

Delete segments

Select the segment you want to delete and Tap the delete button.

Adjust segments start and end time

Just drag or resize to adjust the segment start time and end time.

Merge  two segments

Long press on any segment to get the options menu.  Select the merge option. Select consecutive two segments & Tap the confirm button.

Split a segment

Long press on any segment to get the options menu.  Select the split option. Select the segment you want to split & Tap the confirm button.

Bulk shift segments

Long press on any segment to get the options menu.  Select the shift option.

Enter the start and end segment numbers and duration in milliseconds you want to shift your segments.  

If you want to shift segments backwards in the timeline. Enable the shift backwards switch button.

If you want to move only a single segment just enter the same number in start and end segment inputs.

Adjust the scale of the timeline

Go to more options and select Adjust Scale.

Switch between Caption & Transcription Mode

The editor has two working modes. Caption mode, video loop between the selected segment start and end time. Transcription Mode video plays continuously.

Add More Languages

You can create subtitles in 100+ languages. Tap on the app bar current language name. Search the language in which you want your subtitles.  The editor automatically creates a blank copy of time segments using the original language captions. You can listen and write the translation manually

Or  You can use the Auto-Translate feature. Tap the translate icon on the app bar.

Langauge information is preloaded. Tap the Translate Now button.

Adjust Captions/Subtitles position

Just hold and drag the captions vertically on the player to adjust the position.

Export Subtitles

Click the download icon in the app bar. Select the language if they are many. Tap the floating download button. Choose the export format.
